Us A Song, You're The Cheerleader
This song is about the ThyCa listserv, an on-line support group.
Finding that group made a huge difference in my life after my diagnosis.
It's nine
o'clock on a Saturday
The regular crowd logs in
There's an old friend on the list tonight
Makin' light of how hypo he's been
He says, "Megan, send us a melody
In my fog I forget how it goes
But it's called 'The Twelve Weeks'
and it's really complete
It tells what it's like for hypos"
La la la, de
de da
La la, de de da da da
Send us a song, you're the Cheerleader
Send us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a thyca joke
And you'll have us feelin' alright
Now Katiekbob
is a friend of mine
She's assistant cheerleader with me
And she's quick with a joke or resend a post
And there's no place that we'd rather be
She says, "Megan, our comedy's killing me"
As the smileys decorate her page
"And I'm sure that I wouldn't be half as sane
If it weren't for this wonderful place."
Oh, la la la,
de de da
La la, de de da da da
Now several
of us feel like novelists
We never have time for a life
Cuz we're writing our stories
And sharing our worries
And probably will be for life
And the doctors are practicing their finesse
And the Englishman's brilliant on quotes
Yes, we're sharing a chat about hyponess
But it's better than slidin' alone
Send us a song,
you're the Cheerleader
Send us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a thyca joke
And you'll have us feelin' alright
It's a pretty
good crowd for a Saturday
And Arturo sits back and smiles
'Cuz he
knows that his list
fills a hole that was missed
We can chat about thyca a while
And the keyboards pound out their messages
And the monitors glow on each face
And they sit in their homes
And know they're not alone
And say, "Man, thank God for this place."
Oh, la la la,
de de da
La la,
de de da da da
Send us a song, you're the Cheerleader
Send us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a thyca joke
And you'll have us feelin' alright
